Procedure Design Safeguarding

Fly-By NUNES design Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs) for airports. IFPs facilitate safe arrivals, landings and take-offs and can extend out to a distance of up to 30 nautical miles or more from the airport.

Flight Procedures at airports also need to be safeguarded from either temporary obstacles to be erected, such as cranes in the airport vicinity for construction purposes, or from permanent structures to be constructed, such as wind farm developments, buildings, mobile phone masts (such as 5G masts) or radio, television masts and data communication masts, so that the safety of the flight procedures is not compromised.

Normally, proposed structures are required to be submitted to the local council or municipality, for planning permission, where it is normally required from the authority that an aeronautical IFP Safeguarding study is undertaken before permission is granted.

The IFP Safeguarding studies we undertake are comprehensive, taking the proposed obstacle(s) and airport procedures into account, presenting the flight procedures assessment outcome, and detailing recommendations to mitigate any observed reduction in safety.
